“My man” translated from English to French as “Mon homme” is a rare gem, bold-yet easy, contemporary-styled and carefully crafted 2013 Pinotage.
The soundtrack to this enigma can be found on my sophomore album, Kensoul, The Lotus Chapter through the track, Mon Homme where the harmonies and melodies could be compared to the hints of red berries, delicate dark chocolate and fruit cake on the nose.
The grapes are selected from parcels throughout the Western Cape and the wine is crafted by Hendrik Snyman.

Wine of Origin: Western Cape
Tasting note: On the nose you will find rich aromas of plums and blackcurrant backed by mild wooded spices. The wine is medium-bodied with concentrated berry flavours, well-structured tannins and a delightful lingering aftertaste.
Food suggestion: Best enjoyed with a rich meal such as beef or game, but as it ages it will soften and will go well with roasts and lamb stews.
IN THE VINEYARD:
A cooler ripening season with even temperatures led to steady and measured ripening of the grapes. Overall, the smaller berry size and lower yields promise great concentration, good quality and intense colour.
Grapes are picked by hand, placed into small lug boxes and transported to the cellar in cool trucks. Harvest begins from March.
IN THE CELLAR:
The wine was pressed before alcoholic fermentation was completed, to prevent the extraction of hard and dry tannins.
Maturation: The wine was matured for 15 months in oak barrels - 85% of French origin and 15% American. A 50% portion of the barrels was first-fill.
